Looking after the public

The Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA) is focused on the public interest. It is an independent body that is fair, transparent and accountable, and follows a model of regulation that reflects the evolution of professionalism within the real estate industry. RECA is committed to ongoing communication with consumers about the real estate industry in Alberta, the rights consumers have and the standards they can expect when working with licensed real estate, mortgage brokerage, real estate appraisal and property management professionals.

The authority behind the real estate profession

The Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA) has built a foundation for a self-regulated real estate industry in which professionals can be proud.  It sets, delivers, and upholds consistently high standards. RECA also provides a comprehensive range of information and support services designed to assist industry professionals in meeting those industry standards and providing services to the public. It has committed significant resources to the development of tools and materials that focus on legislative compliance, competent practice and professionalism.

Raising the bar

The Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA) offers flexible, engaging education programs for learners in all four industry sectors. These programs provide the regulatory foundation and practice elements that serve industry professionals. RECA is committed to pre-licensing education programs that prepare learners to work competently, ethically and professionally with consumers. Through its re-licensing education program, RECA demonstrates its commitment to continual improvement, competence and professionalism.

Alberta's only licensing authority

Licensing is the foundation on which much of the Real Estate Council of Alberta’s (RECA) other work is built. Reviewing eligibility, providing comprehensive pre‐licensing education and assessing suitability are three of the ways in which RECA uses its licensing processes to ensure industry professionals will be able to work competently and professionally. Ensuring the integrity of the licensing process is at the core of everything RECA does. Find out more about becoming licensed in Alberta.
