A message from Russ Morrow, RECA CEO

On April 1, 2022, the Minister of Service Alberta, the Honourable Nate Glubish, accepted the resignation of Patricia McLeod, from her position as Chair of the Real Estate Council of Alberta’s (RECA) Board of Directors.

Patricia was the first Board Chair under the modernized governance model that came into effect on December 1, 2020, and has resigned for personal reasons.

Effective immediately, David James, Deputy Minister of Service Alberta, will serve as RECA’s interim Board Chair until a new public member is appointed. David has worked closely with RECA’s Board and Industry Councils and can step immediately into this interim role.

On behalf of RECA, I would like to thank Patricia for her outstanding service as Chair for the past 16 months. The Board was able to achieve its comprehensive legislated requirements for their first year in part because of Patricia’s extensive knowledge and experience in governance, and her skill as a chairperson.

Her strong presence will be missed at the Board table, and I wish her the very best.

The office of the Minister of Service Alberta will begin the process to identify a member of the public to serve as the new, permanent Board Chair.

RECA’s activities will continue as normal. I look forward to working with David in his interim role, and the new, permanent Board Chair when they are appointed by the Minister. Together, with the government, RECA stakeholders, and all licensees we will continue to work to protect the public of Alberta.
