By-election for Commercial Real Estate Broker & Property Manager Industry Council
| December 21, 2020
The same day the Real Estate Amendment Act 2020 came into force—December 1, 2020—the Minister of Service Alberta announced the elected licensees and appointed public members of RECA’s Board of Directors and four Industry Councils.
To become candidates in the Industry Council elections, licensees were required to meet certain criteria and submit their application to the Nomination Committee for review.
Despite there being a tight turnaround for applications, qualified candidates came forward for all but one Industry Council seat. In the interest of ensuring the continuation of RECA’s work with as little interruption as possible, the 2020 Industry Councils elections proceeded without any candidates running for the urban commercial practitioner seat on the Commercial Real Estate Broker and Commercial Property Manager Industry Council.
To fill this vacancy, RECA will be holding a by-election for the urban commercial practitioner seat early in 2021. More details will be announced the first week of January, including nomination and elections dates, as well as necessary qualifications for candidates.
