Avoid Registration Mistakes in September 2019
| September 11, 2019
Every year, during the last weeks of September, RECA encounters situations where brokers process new associate and reinstatement applications believing these apply to the upcoming licensing year.
They do not.
Licensing transactions take effect immediately. A new licence or reinstatement application approved on or before September 30 applies to the current licensing period, not the upcoming licensing period beginning October 1. This means if RECA issues a registration certificate on or before September 30, 2019 it will expire on September 30, 2019.
Please take care in approving licensing applications in September. You and your incoming industry professionals should know that even though they just licensed in September, they must still also renew by September 30 or they will be unauthorized starting October 1.
Please talk with your incoming associate and discuss delaying their licensing application until October 1.
Please contact us at registration@reca.ca if you require further information.
