New Council Members

The Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA) is pleased to announce six new members of Council. All six Council members will begin their three-year term on November 1, 2013. They are:
John Farmer: Appointed by Council from nominations received from licensed real estate appraisers to represent real estate appraisers. John has over 20 years of experience in the industry, including 15 years in Alberta as an appraiser, focusing on commercial properties. He has volunteered with the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC) for a number of years; as Chair of the Edmonton Chapter, as provincial board member (AIC – Alberta) and has just completed a 2 year term on the AIC National Board of Directors. John is a trained BDI examiner, assisting in the AIC accreditation interview process. Originating from the UK, he is also a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Pat Kelly: Council-member elect, by the Alberta Mortgage Brokers Association (AMBA) to represent the mortgage brokerage sector. Pat is a mortgage associate with 19 years of experience in the industry, and has served 7 years on the AMBA Board, twice serving as President of the Association. Pat has also served on RECA’s Mortgage Broker Advisory Committee.
Brian Klingspon: Appointed by AREA to represent the REALTORS® Association of Edmonton (RAE). Brian has been in the business for nearly 25 years, serving as the broker for two brokerages in Edmonton. Brian has sat on numerous committees and currently serves on the RECA Hearings Committee, an appointment he’s held since 2007.
Angela Kolody: Appointed by AREA to represent real estate boards outside of Edmonton and Calgary. Angela is a real estate associate in Medicine Hat and has worked in the real estate industry for more than 12 years, including serving on the Medicine Hat Real Estate Board from 2003-2007 and as its President in 2006. Since then, she has sat on the Professional Standards Committee for the Board.
Stan Kushner: Appointed by AREA to represent the Calgary Real Estate Board. Stan is an associate broker in Calgary, with 35 years in the industry focusing primarily on rural properties. Stan has been a broker for several large brokerages, and has sat on the Calgary Real Estate Board and its many board committees. Stan has also sat on the RECA Residential Advisory Committee and currently sits on the RECA Hearings Committee.
Christine Zwozdesky: Appointed by Council from nominations received from authorized real estate brokers practicing property management to represent the property management sector. Christine has 26 years of experience in the industry; she has sat as a member and President of the Building Owners and Managers Association – Edmonton Chapter, and is a founding member and currently Past President of Edmonton CREW. Christine is also a Director of the Capital Region Housing Corporation Board and sits on RECA’s Property Management Advisory Committee.
RECA is excited by the fresh perspectives these individuals will bring to the Council table and it looks forward to a productive 2014 working for industry professionals across the province.
