2025 Residential Real Estate Broker Industry Council By-Election

All eligible residential real estate licensees are encouraged to run in the by-election for an open seat on the Residential Real Estate Broker Industry Council.

The seat has opened after an Industry Council member’s resignation whose term was to expire on November 30, 2025. The successful candidate’s term will begin immediately following the by-election and end on November 30, 2025.

If you are a residential real estate licensee (real estate broker, associate broker, or associate), have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the real estate industry, and meet the additional requirements in the Candidate Information Package, you are invited to participate in the by-election.

Interested candidates must:

  • submit their candidate package to the Election Officer during the Nomination Period
  • meet the basic eligibility requirements for the seat
  • meet the additional requirements set by the Residential Real Estate Broker Industry Council
  • provide written endorsements from other licensees

Election Officer

Interested candidates must submit their complete candidate package to the Election Officer for review and validation during the nomination period. In accordance with the Real Estate Act Bylaws, the RECA Board has appointed MNP LLP as the Election Officer to supervise, validate, and certify results of the Industry Council nominations and elections. The Election Officer is independent of the RECA Board, Industry Councils, and RECA staff.


Who Can Vote

All individuals actively licensed by the Residential Real Estate Broker Industry Council are eligible to vote.


Anonymous ballots will be distributed to the email address recorded in the licensee’s MyRECA account. Please log in and make sure your email is current in your myRECA account by February 14 at 12:00 PM (MST). Failure to do so can result in you not receiving the anonymous ballot.

  • Voting will open on February 19, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. (MST)
  • Voting will close on February 25, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. (MST)
  • Results will be announced by February 27, 2025.

What are the eligibility requirements for voters?The only requirement to vote is that you must be licensed by the Residential Real Estate Broker Industry Council at the time of the by-election.
Where is my ballot?Anonymous ballots will be distributed to the email address recorded in your MyRECA account on the morning polls open, February 19, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. (MST). Make sure your email address is up to date within MyRECA

Where/when can I submit my completed Candidate Package?Where: Your completed Candidate Package must be emailed to MNP LLP, Election Officer, at RECAelection@mnp.ca  Make sure your Candidate Package meets all of the requirements of the Candidate Information Package.

When: between January 6, 2025 and January 28, 2025 (ending at 5:00 p.m. MST). Any incomplete or deficient package will not be eligible after 5:00 p.m. (MST) January 28, 2025.
As a candidate, do I have to provide a photo?No, a photo is not required but is encouraged.
As a candidate, do I have to provide a statement or video?Yes, candidates must provide a video no longer than three (3) minutes or a written submission no longer than 700 words explaining their suitability for the Residential Real Estate Broker Industry Council.
Do my endorsers have to be licensed by the Residential Real Estate Broker Industry Council?Yes, endorsers must be in the same industry, and licensed by the Residential Real Estate Broker Industry Council.

What is the deadline to submit my Candidate Package?You must submit your complete Candidate Package to the Election Officer for review and validation by 5:00 p.m. (MST), January 28, 2025.

Any incomplete or deficient package will not be eligible after 5:00 p.m. (MST) January 28, 2025.

The Election Officer encourages you to submit your packages early, to allow for appropriate, and timely validation and review.
How do I know if my Candidate Package was received by the Election Officer?You will receive an automated email response from MNP confirming receipt of your email.

You will receive a further email within 48 hours of the automated response (excluding weekends), to notify you of any insufficiencies or defects with your Candidate Package, or to notify you that you have been accepted as a nominee (having met the requirements outlined in the Candidate Information Package).

Candidates must submit their complete Candidate Package to the Election Officer for review and validation by 5:00 p.m. (MST), January 28, 2025. Any incomplete or deficient package will not be eligible after 5:00 p.m. (MST) January 28, 2025.
I did not receive an automated email response from the Election Officer.

What do I do now?
If you have not received the automated email response after emailing RECAelection@mnp.ca please:

• Check your junk/spam inbox for the MNP auto-response email
• Check your email outbox - make sure the email is not stuck in a “send” state
• Check your internet connection
• Ensure that you have the correct email address of RECAelection@mnp.ca
• Ensure your attachment is not too large to email
• Attempt to re-send your Candidate Package

If, after trying the above, you still have not received the automated response, your email did not go through.

MNP and RECA are not responsible for technical difficulties encountered by a candidate’s IT configuration including, but not limited to, typing an incorrect email address, internet access, or spam/junk/server limitations.
